For someone who is so busy taking care of Mr Vintage during his recovery from surgery that I haven't been to my booth for a month, I've been pretty lucky this week. First Cameo Cottage Designs did a nice feature on Heart Vintage Design and now I just learned that I won The Dove Cote Brocante's Pay It Forward Box Giveaway!
The way it works is that The Dove Cote Brocante gave vintage shop owners the chance to enter a giveaway with a unique twist. The winner will get a box of 10 items to sell as part of their "pay it forward" mission. The store is going to send me a box of items to sell and I am supposed to donate 25% of the proceeds to the charity of my choice. But I don't think I'm going to do that.
I hardly every do exactly what I'm told so I'm going to give 100% of the proceeds to Misfit Animal Rescue Inc., a non-profit 501c3 animal rescue located in Lake County, Florida. They pull animals from Lake County Animal Services, a high kill animal shelter, get them medical attention and fixed before adopting them out to loving families.
The amazing thing about this charity is that it was started by a 16 year old girl who became aware of the large numbers of animals being euthanized. Normally I never put more than two links in a post. However I'm including a link to an article that was published in the Orlando Sentinel so you can see why I selected this charity.
I am excited to be able to help such a worthwhile cause and thankful that The Dove Cote Brocante came up with the idea and gave me the opportunity to enter their giveaway. I'll keep you all posted...
